Thank you to Erin (Reading with Wrin) for tagging me in her blogpost.
I love books. I love reading them, browsing for them in shops and just looking at them on my shelf. Loving books can be dangerous.. Before you know it, you have a wall filled with books you are yet to read.
I try to keep my TBR shelf under control but every now and then, I give in to the temptation and I buy all the pretty books.
How do you keep track of your TBR pile.
I have a little list of the books on my phone. (I love Wunderlist as a list-making app) Those are the ones I really, really, really want to read so when I do go into a bookstore, I know what books to look for specifically.
Other than that, I do occasionally add titles to my Goodreads page but honestly, I’m not a huge Goodreads user. I always forget to add reviews. It’s enough of a struggle as it is to try and remember to add the books I’ve read to my reading challenge. (Only 50 books this year, nothing crazy)
But most of my TBR is on my bookshelf. Like I said, I love looking at books. I have always dreamed of having a library of my own (Like Belle in Beauty and the Beast) and I’m slowly but surely collecting the books I loved reading to create a representation of myself.
Is your TBR mostly print or ebooks?
I’m not an ebook person. I like the feel of the books and the paper when I’m reading them. So most of my TBR pile is in Print. I do have some ebooks but they are mostly free copies. By the way, do you know Riveted? I discovered them last week and it’s all kinds of amazing! The same goes for Glose. Both are reading community platforms and both offer a selection of free ebooks. Definitely worth checking them both out!
A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest.
*walks over to her bookshelf and stares at the books*
Possession by AS Byatt. I remember the film vaguely but I know that I loved the story. I picked it up when I was at college, so probably about eight years ago. (Ow my god, I’m getting old!)
A book you recently added to your TBR.
Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler. I keep saying that I want to read more Shakespeare and I never come round to it. So why not read the original side to side with an adaptation? This one is based on The Taming of the Shrew. (I have no idea what that play’s about) Equally as important, have you seen that cover. *sigh*
A book in your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover.
Well, I could have said Vinegar Girl but let’s see…
I saw this picture on Lauren‘s Twitter and I completely fell in love with The Lesser Bohemians by Eimear McBride. I have no idea what the story is about but my god, that cover is GORGEOUS!!!
A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading.
Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. It’s the sequel to The Shining (which I have on my TBR as well, but am not feeling like reading any time soon).
I got it for my birthday five years ago and it never really spoke to me but it’s this beautiful hardback version so I’m not ready to give up on it yet.
An unpublished book on your TBR that you are excited for.
Monterey Bay – Lindsay Hatton.
In 1940, fifteen year-old Margot Fiske arrives on the shores of Monterey Bay with her eccentric entrepreneur father. Margot has been her father’s apprentice all over the world, until an accident in Monterey’s tide pools drives them apart and plunges her head-first into the mayhem of John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row.
It just speaks to me.. and it comes out on the 19th of July (I think).
A book on your TBR that basically everyone’s read except for you.
*Prepares herself for the storm*
I know, I know, I’ve actually started it several times and every time I put it back down. One day, though, one day…
A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you.
Hhmm not sure. The last book I bought because someone recommended it was The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber. I heard about it on Jen Campbell‘s Youtube Channel.
I don’t get a lot of recommendations at the moment. So if you want to recommend me something. Feel free to leave it in the comment section below.
A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read.
I’m actually reading it right now. It’s called Ragnarok and it was written by AS Byatt. The story combines the life of a girl during WW II and Norse mythology. I’m loving it so far!
How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf.
Like I said, I don’t use Goodreads frequently enough to give a correct representation of my TBR list but I promise to work on it. Right now, the TBR shelf stands at a meagre 23 books. 🙂 And they’re mostly classics…
So I guess this is the point where I tag people.

Anyone who wants to share his/her TBR shelf, feel free to do this TAG.
Let me know when you do. I’m always on the lookout for new books.
